If you like what the ZN5 brings to the table but roundish sliders are more your cup of tea (and when the alternative is a drab gray candybar with purple accents, we can’t say we blame you), Moto’s got the solution to the pollution this morning with the official announcement of the VE66. You’ve got that 5-megapixel autofocus cam with LED flash (as opposed to the ZN5’s xenon) and image stabilization, WiFi, FM radio, Motorola’s CrystalTalk noise reduction, and a navigation wheel for flying through song tracks. Interestingly, there’s no mention of Moto’s partnership with Kodak anywhere on the phone or the announcement — but something tells us that won’t have an effect on picture quality. Look for it to launch some time this quarter.

Motorola adds another 5-megapixel phone to the mix with VE66 originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Tue, 18 Nov 2008 11:59:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

That Knick isn’t even out yet, and it seems like AT&T might already be gearing up to stuff a competitor right alongside it in the lineup. Boy Genius Report is showing a picture (possibly a rendering — hard to tell) of a reasonably-spec’d QWERTY slider dumbphone from LG dubbed “Xenon” that is claimed to be wrapping up testing as we speak in preparation for a holiday launch. Rumored goodies include dualband HSDPA, a 2.8-inch QVGA display, 3-megapixel cam with VGA video recording, microSD expansion, and WiFi — so needless to say, we’re not really seeing a free-on-contract future for ‘er.

Paris who? Sony Ericsson’s let yet another one slip out of its fingers before the official announcement, this time around a killer slider said to be the Cyber-shot C905, codenamed “Shiho.” If the unverified information pan out, it’s got one heck of a rap sheet, too, starting off with an 8.1 — yes, eight point flippin’ one — megapixel camera with Bot. xenon and LED flashes (for still and video capture, respectively), GPS, TV out, DLNA certification, and HSDPA in your choice of European and American flavors. The screen’s apparently just QVGA, but in light of everything else we’re hearing, we might just be willing to let that slide. It’ll apparently be declare on the 17th of the month in gold, silver, and black for a fourth quarter release. Wowza!

[Thanks, Adrian]
