Telus teasing a June 8 launch — the HTC Triumph, perhaps?

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

So the popular rumor going around at the moment is that Telus is on the verge of releasing a Canada-flavored HTC Desire rebranded as the “Triumph,” which seems pretty reasonable considering that the carrier has made no effort to launch the Nexus One and without doubt wants to pimp as many awesome phones as it can right at this time to drum up usage of its nascent HSPA network. This all lines up nicely with the fact that Telus’ home page is at this time teasing an “unleashing” on June 8, less than two weeks from today. Sounds like a win — provided they can keep the three-year contract price in check, of course.

Motorola Backflip comes to Telus

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Moto promised the Backflip (among other Android-powered wares) to its Canadian fans back in March, and it’s at this time delivering thanks to an official launch on Telus. As you can clearly see, the phone isn’t Truly the same thing that AT&T customers are grabbing — the outer bezel is a darker shade, something we suspect a good deal of users might prefer — but otherwise, it’s got the same processor, 5 megapixel camera, 3.1-inch HVGA display, and wacky hinge that we’re already well-accustomed with. Whether that’s a good thing or not… well, we’ll leave that for potential buyers to decide, but you can pick it up for CAD $100 (about $99) on a three-year deal.

Telus’ Motorola Milestone gets a date?

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

We’ve known for Truly a while that Motorola’s Milestone was steaming its way towards Telus, but what we didn’t know — aside from the irritatingly vague Q1 2010 — was precisely what day you could expect to find yourself lined up for yours — you are getting one, aren’t you Canada? We’ve at this time heard that January 26th is the rumored target date for Telus’ missing hero Android device, and that suits us just fine — though, we’re still waiting on a dollar figure. But please keep in mind, dates — or unverified information, that can prove to be completely untrue — like this can slip, so don’t come pounding on our doors if this slips back down the calendar. We’ll be watching for Telus’ Milestone closely and hopefully hear a little more soon.
