Multi-touch hasn’t necessarily revolutionized the way we’re interacting with our devices, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction — particularly when a touchscreen is such a very big part of the overall input equation as it is with the iPhone. But why stop there? A new patent app filed by Cupertino’s finest suggests that touch and multi-touch Dat. could be mixed in with all sorts of other inputs for more refined control of what we’re trying to do; accelerometer control, force sensitivity, voice, and visual recognition are all mentioned as possibilities, meaning that theoretically we could one day be shaking and multi-pounding our iPhone 7Gs while screaming and flipping the bird. What device function that would actuate, we’re not precisely sure — but we’re just throwing out ideas in this place.

As slick as TouchFLO 3D looks on the Touch Diamond (especially on that VGA display), users don’t have much capability to fiddle with the way it looks and acts out of the box, and for the anal among us, that can be a very big hassle. A member of German forum PPC-Welt is Makewhat he can to ease the pain, though, releasing a “Diamond TF3D Config” utility for changing the order and visibility of tabs and modifying the way the Dat. is displayed on the home screen. Not a very big deal by any means, but it’s a step in the right direction — and let’s be honest, it’s something dead simple that HTC should’ve had the forethought to include up front.
