Sanjay Jha has a fairly daunting task ahead of him, but the new co-CEO is already vowing to stomp his foot down and make some changes for the better within three months. While speaking to an audience of analysts and media, the new Motorola exec stated that he would be reviewing the firm’s device platforms / product roadmap within 90 days, and he’s also planning to make “hires in areas where he doesn’t have experience.” Thankfully, that latter tidbit includes hires in product design, which — judging by the looks of its Alexander — really needs some fresh brains to step in. Of course, we wouldn’t expect a new bigwig to say anything other than this, so the real test comes in T-minus eighty-some-odd days when we see how he delivers. The clock’s ticking, Mr. Jha.

This new Motorola in the FCC’s filings looks like no model we’re familiar with, and from what we can see, that’s a very good thing. The candybar was only tested for GSM / EDGE 1900 and Bluetooth, an indication that it’s destined for some non-US market — though the manual makes mention of 3G capability and we see a front-facing cam in this place as well, so whatever market does get it will have access to some speedy Dat. and video calling. We only hope this little gem is nothing more than a low-end model designed to bring WCDMA to the masses (or possibly a one-off custom designed to a carrier’s exact specifications), because if it’s even remotely indicative of the design direction Moto’s looking to go in the post-breakup era, we can get that fork ready. You know, the one we’ll use to stick in Motorola… when it’s done. Ah, never mind.
