LG’s Vu hit and left the spotlight in the blink of an eye earlier this year, but at this time AT&T’s looking to rejuvenate interest in the Mobile TV-enabled handset by bringing it back out in a new wine hue. At least, that’s the good word coming from the Boy Genius. Reportedly, the new version (model number 920 versus the old 915) will also boast MediaFLO and a number of assorted bug fixes, and while there’s no expected Dat. of arrival mentioned, it should ring up at right around $100 whenever it lands.

LG Vu landing at AT&T in new wine hue originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Wed, 03 Dec 2008 07:02:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

We’ve heard some rumblings that AT&T was keen on picking up the Secret to shore up its high-end featurephone lineup, and that’s being corroborated by what other sites are hearing as well — all told, that leaves LG in a pretty enviable position with the 800-pound gorilla of the US GSM market, presumably launching the sexy (well, arguably sexy) Incite smartphone alongside one of the smartest-looking 5-megapixel handsets in the market today. The Secret clone, model number CF750, should apparently feature the same high-end cam, thin shell, 3G, and touchscreen as its European brother, clearly swapping bands to make the package a little more palatable to a North American audience. Moving downmarket a little bit, the CF360 looks to be a decrease-end piece that’ll do duty in AT&T’s rank-and-file lineup — in other words, it’ll basically print money. We’re cool with all this, but seriously, guys, can we tighten up the European to North American technology transfer just a little bit? No? Too much to ask?

[Via phoneArena, thanks alex]

Okay, bear with us in this place, because the road to this device is a winding one, to say the least: first, there was the Samsung i780 that launched in Europe. It was informally and unofficially branded the BlackJack III, thanks to its obvious resemblance to Samsung’s own BlackJack series that has been a stalwart of AT&T’s 3G lineup since its early days. More recently, we caught wind of an i907 that would be launching on AT&T’s airwaves in the next few weeks; thanks to the model number’s proximity to that of the i900 Omnia, it didn’t take long for unverified information to spread that it’d be an AT&T-branded version of the i900 — but a counter-rumor claimed that it would actually take the form of the good ol’ i780. A training pamphlet at this time circulating seems to have sealed the deal that this will, in fact, be a tweaked i780, which means we can expect Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, a full QWERTY keyboard, optical mouse, and HSDPA. What’s more, the “Mirage” name we’d heard seems to have been tossed out for the way (way) cooler “Epix.” Still no word on an exact release Dat. or price, but considering the hefty specs we’re expecting and the smartphone label, we’re not precisely counting on a free-on-contract deal in this place.
