We figured Apple would’ve learned its lesson after the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority banned those “the real internet” iPhone commercials, but it seems like Steve’s back in detention — the ASA just ruled that another ad claiming that the iPhone is “really fast” is also misleading enough to be pulled. You’ve probably seen the similar US version of the ad, which shows the iPhone 3G loading a web page, switching to Maps to locate itself, downloading an attachment, and then finally taking a call, all in 30 seconds — yeah, that doesn’t happen. Apple claimed that its “Network performance may vary by location” disclaimer was enough to keep it safe, but the ASA wasn’t having that: it said that the ad was likely to lead viewers to believe the iPhone was really that speedy. Of course, we’re pretty certain most people understand that reality and advertising don’t really have anything do with each other, but we’re not the ones in charge — just wait till the ASA finds out that drinking gallons of beer doesn’t actually make you more attractive. Check the ad in question after the break.

[Thanks, David]

Although it’s running a few days behind the European update, we suppose lat. continuously trumps never when it comes to refreshed firmware. As of at this time, Americans can suck down v110.07.127 for their E71-2 in order to take advantage of a smattering of bug fixes. Most notably, users should see Nokia Email updates as well as “a new update to Mail For Exchange and Nokia Maps, Bot. of which are pre-installed.” As continuously, we’d highly recommend backing everything up before Makethe deed, but if you’re feeling froggy, jump.

Peeped in spy pics on these Interwebs since June, Nokia just went official with the 6260 slide. Unfortunately, “slide” in this case reveals a numeric keypad not a QWERTY. Otherwise, it’s pretty much an iterative step beyond the 6220 classic. As such, we’re looking at a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens, WiFi, and HSDPA/HSUPA Dat. to quickly share photos and video on Nokia’s Ovi service with the promise of support for other photo and video sharing sites you might actually use. The 6260 slide also features Nokia Maps riding AGPS — a first for a mass market, Series 40 device. Ships in early 2009 for about €299 before taxes and carrier subsidies, naturally.

Update: Detailed specs just released show a 2.4-inch, 320 x 480 pixel display on this 15.4-mm thick slider with quad-band GSM/EDGE and tri-band UMTS radios and microSD expansion. [Thanks, L]
