Verizon drops Omnia to $199, hopes you'll pay attention at this time

Samsung’s Omnia is nice enough to find a good home in many a professional’s pocket, but in terms of overall desirability it doesn’t Truly compare to the iPhone or G1. Why, then, did Verizon price the thing $50 higher than its alternate-platform competition? Your guess is as good as ours, but at least the company didn’t take long to see the error of its ways, dropping the handset under the magic $200 mark just a few days after the early-adopters got done paying too much for theirs. We’re thinking Verizon might have been targeting the $249 Touch Diamond, but really that could do with a price cut of its own. $199 seems about right for an Omnia, so you go right ahead and click on if you want; we’ll wait for the higher-res one, thanks.

There’s not a whole lot of excitement packed between the hinges of Samsung’s M3110, but the vivacious exterior is certainly worth a look for those who appreciate varying hues. The self-proclaimed music phone does itself a very big favor by offering up a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack, and there’s also an internal display (160 x 128) there to complement the external 96 x 96 pixel screen. Finally, you’ll find a 1.3-megapixel camera and a very traditional numeric keypad, but your guess is as good as ours on pricing / availability.

For fans of modishness, small and predictable, you’ll find oodles to love about Motorola’s latest drink specials. Er, phones — we meant phones right there. Anywho, Moto’s new VE70 Cocktail Mint and Cocktail Tropical only differ in color — Mint is a mixture of chic black, fresh mint and pearl white while Tropical uses white, light green, violet and orange. Otherwise you’ll find a 2.2-inch QVGA display, a built-in camera, 3G support and of course, a wine dictionary. Your guess is as good as ours when it comes to price / release information, but a few more images are waiting for you in the read link.
