The long, agonizing wait for Alltel to come clean with this gem is over. Starting today, subscribers can phone up the carrier with questions about the Touch Diamond and receive a response other than “Whatcha talkin’ ’bout Willis?” ‘Course, it’s no shock whatsoever to see this Windows Mobile 6.1-based handset surface on the soon-to-be-Verizon’s network, but those who’ve been waiting patiently will be utterly stoked to know that you can at this time plop down $249.99 (after all rebates and a 2-year agreement) in order to take one home.

Hot on the heels of RIM’s BlackBerry Bold finally hitting AT&T sales channels comes word that Japan’s NTT DoCoMo has also joined in to offer the handset. As the Asian carriers dump their cornucopia of fall 2008 mobiles onto the world, this particular one is serving up 22, all divided into the STYLE, PRIME, SMART and PRO series. Naturally, the latter category piques our interest the most, as it hosts the Bold, Nokia E71, HTC Touch Pro (HT-01A), HTC Touch Diamond (HT-02A) and Sharp’s definitely handsome SH-04A. Feel free to have a look at the entire family (and their respective launch dates) just below in the read link.

Man, Nokia sure is proud of its unlocked N96, huh? As with the HTC Touch Diamond in CompUSA and the BlackBerry Bold at bes. Buy Mobile, the flagship N-series device won’t run you cheap off-contract. The Boy Genius shows off a flyer advertising the 16GB, 5MP powerhouse for “just” $799.99 (as expected), but judging by the standard $899.99 price on the outfit’s website, we’re thinking the decrease sticker may be for a limited time only. The question isn’t how bad do you want it — it’s do you really want it more than 1.825 WiMAX-enabled N810s?
