HTC Bravo spotted again, looking as real as ever

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

at this time that we’re being blessed with our second in-the-wild shot of the alleged HTC Bravo, we’re just plan to go ahead and call it: this Nexus One-alike is almost certainly real. Of course, there are a couple key differences against its Google-sponsored cousin — first you’ve got the optical pad (or so it seems) in place of a trackball, and perhaps more importantly, Sense makes its Android 2.1 debut. Apart from a quickly-retracted remark from 3 Sweden that we’d see this in March, we don’t really have any intel on when (or where) this’ll drop, but hey, it’s looking pretty production-ready to us.

Motorola i410 comes to Boost, catchy name doesn’t

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

You know how you can tell Moto’s new i410 for iDEN isn’t really supposed to be hip, stylish, or ultra-functional? Neither Moto nor launch partner Boost bothered to give it a fresh, funky name, bucking the trend set by the Clutch and Debut. Of course, with an utterly basic black rectangular shell, tiny monochrome secondary display, and lack of even a VGA cam, it’s clear that they’re going for the bottom-most reaches of the market in this place — which means that customers should be able to scoop it up for a song on any of Boost’s prepaid plans, happily. It’s not up on the carrier’s site just yet, but it’ll be available before the year’s up — and Motorola says that this officially “completes Boost Mobile’s 2009 device roadmap,” so we hope you weren’t holding out for some mythical Android device in the next couple weeks.

New HTC HD2 ROM makes YouTube debut, T-Mobile USA branding along for the ride

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

So there’s a fancy new HD2 ROM making the rounds on YouTube that shows a rather engaging attention new feature — live document preview from the Sense tab bar — and it seems to work surprisingly well despite a dizzying array of fancy animations, a true tribute to the power of a well-clocked Snapdragon core. For Americans, though, that’s not a big deal — the real news would be that magenta “Stick Together” box up there, an irrefutable sign that T-Mobile USA’s hands have been all over this thing. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time we’ve heard this rumor, but at this point, it’s looking like a straight-up lock barring some disaster in testing. And no, you can’t have the one on the video that you’ll find after the break — it says right there that it’s “Test Only not for sale,” silly.
