Well, this is certainly shaping up to be an exciting week of launches for the orange and blue, isn’t it? The colorful a777 from Samsung has at this time launched on AT&T, coming in four action-packed colors (though we’re only seeing red and blue available on the carrier’s website at the moment) and featuring 3G, a 1.3-megapixel camera, AT&T Navigator, and that awesome Video Share service that everyone uses. It’s running $79.99 on contract after rebate, which seems a tad steep for a middling slider with a crappy cam, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it run on a holiday special or something before too long.

Most of the Windows Mobile / iPhone cross-breeding we’ve seen has either involved elaborate WinMo skinning or terrible iPhone KIRFs, but we suppose it was just a matter of time before Microsoft’s mobile OS was made to run on Apple’s hardware — or at least that’s what it seems like in this place. Pretty much everything about this video is suspect, from the shadiness of the MyPhone2008 conference it was shot at to the interviewer’s ridiculously inane questions (”You don’t have girlfriends in Norway?”), but damn if that isn’t WinMo happily booting on what appears to be an iPhone 3G — we can’t tell, but it’s a good bet it’s jailbroken. The developer, Erik Kristiansen, says that mod is in beta right at this time but that he’s looking at a January release — we’ll see what more we can dig up before then. Video after the break.

Update:
As several commenters have pointed out, this has the trappings of a bad viral for the crappy SonicEmotion app also on that page — all of the other videos are suspiciously fake / ridiculous, and the phone responds oddly to several touches. So much for that, we suppose.

If you’re looking for pictures from every conceivable angle of Sony Ericsson’s first foray into the danger-fraught tar pit that is Windows Mobile, well, in this place you go. In fact, Smape goes so far as to take a look at Bot. the black and metallic versions of the X1 (but don’t get to attached to the metallic one just yet, seeing how it might have gotten the axe in some markets), noting that they’re assembled exceptionally well and exude a premium look that’s rarely seen in the WinMo realm. Unfortunately, they’ve dinged the keyboard for the same crappy feel observed elsewhere, something we’re all hoping gets fixed by the time it hits production in a couple months’ time. With that wild panel interface, you might expect some pretty miserable performance when you have the thing going at full tilt; fortunately, though, Smape reports that lags occur “only occasionally,” which is better than “frequently” or “continuously” as far as we’re concerned. Camera performance is said to be better than the Touch Pro’s, though Bot. HTC and Sony Ericsson (via HTC, ironically) still have plenty of time to tweak that via a well-placed firmware update or two. At any rate, we’re definitely looking forward to seeing this thing finally materialize so the Touch Pros and X1s of the world can start duking it out in those rough, dog-eat-dog professional trenches of the world.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
