Boost Mobile confirms it’s getting the Motorola i1, basically

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

Let’s be honest — there was never any real doubt that Boost was plan to share the Motorola i1 with parent Sprint, especially after Best Buy went ahead and threw it up early. That said, if you still needed a little extra confirmation just to sleep better at night, look no further than this tweet today from Boost Mobile’s official account saying it “is launching an ANDROID next month” and imploring that we all “spread it like wildfire.” They don’t mention what device it’ll be, but clearly it’ll be the i1 — so consider the message spread like wildfire, Boost. That doubles the cost of the required data plan that sits atop a subscriber’s voice plan, meaning a total of $60 per month for “unlimited” data access on handset or laptop. Mind you, “unlimited” really means 5GB of data per, a total of 10 split between the two $30 plans. Glass ceilings: we hate them.

That includes a brief look at the phone’s sliding keypad (it’s red), a quick once over of LG’s various widgets, confirmation of a 5-megapixel camera, and a look a somewhat unique feature called Text Scan, which promises to let you capture clear images of notes or memos (though it doesn’t seem to provide actual character recognition). But enough with the words — there’s two minutes of sound effects and visual overload after the break.
