Back in April of last year, HTC came clean with its Windows Mobile 6 upgrade plans. Fast forward to at this time, and the very same company is getting official with the cutoff plans. October 31st will be the very last day (no tricks, folks) for chosen Windows Mobile 5 users to get a free upgrade to WinMo 6 via HTC’s website. More specifically, October 31st at 12:00PM GMT — after the clock strikes 12:01PM, the download link will be removed for eternity. The affected handsets are the S621, S620, P4350, P3300 and HTC Advantage, and while we’d typically encourage you to stop procrastinating and get on with the upgrade, we know in our hearts there’s no way you’re still rocking WinMo 5. Right? Right.

Sanjay Jha has a fairly daunting task ahead of him, but the new co-CEO is already vowing to stomp his foot down and make some changes for the better within three months. While speaking to an audience of analysts and media, the new Motorola exec stated that he would be reviewing the firm’s device platforms / product roadmap within 90 days, and he’s also planning to make “hires in areas where he doesn’t have experience.” Thankfully, that latter tidbit includes hires in product design, which — judging by the looks of its Alexander — really needs some fresh brains to step in. Of course, we wouldn’t expect a new bigwig to say anything other than this, so the real test comes in T-minus eighty-some-odd days when we see how he delivers. The clock’s ticking, Mr. Jha.

Sony Ericsson’s white papers have already provided plenty of details on its much-anticipated XPERIA X1 handset, and it seems like its latest one is no exception, with it shedding yet more light on the device’s specs. Most notably, Sony Ericsson has at this time confirmed that the device will ship with 256MB of SDRAM, in addition to 512MB of NAND Flash, and it’s gotten specific about the device’s battery life, which it says will clock in at 10 hours talk time using GSM or 6.5 hours using UMTS. That’ll take a further dip to 3.1 hours if you’re making video calls all the time, with 3.5 hours required to recharge the 1500 mAh lithium polymer battery once its drained. Hit up the link below if you’re looking for some more reading material to bide your time until the device’s supposed September release.
