Yeah, the just-declare C905 plugs a gaping hole in the high end, but Sony Ericsson’s in desperate need of as many smartphones as it can get its hands on right at this time — and a smartphone is one thing the C905 is not. The flagship P1i isn’t getting any younger, neither the G700 nor G900 are inspiring a lot of emotion, and the M610i (which wasn’t particularly fascinating to start with) was canceled before it ever hit the market. Could the Paris — or P5, or P10, or whatever it’s called — and the G702 BeiBei have met the same fate? That’s what the Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog is claiming, suggesting that intense criticism from sites that got early peeks at the devices let to their untimely demise while leaving the window open for a possible limited release in Asia (not unlike the Motorola MPx, if our memories serve us correctly). The way we see it, Sony Ericsson’s just a little too oblivious to be that responsive to the user community (case in point: M2 cards), so we’re more keen to chalk it up to technical glitches or a homegrown realization that the devices just weren’t what the market needed. By the same token, it seems like they can’t afford to throw these efforts out the door altogether; it’d put them hopelessly far behind the competition in the smartphone arena, so hopefully they’re just retooling and learning some lessons as they go.

With the Paris, Shiho, Alicia, BeiBei, and this F305 all seemingly scooped at this point, what else could Sony Ericsson possibly have up its sleeve for its big contest next Tuesday? Odds are they don’t have much left in the tank — but with the breadth of models expected on the stage, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. What you see in this place isn’t an actual picture of the F305, but the concept sketch is said to represent “80%” of what the actual device will look like, a gaming-focused low to mid-end slider with an FM radio and stereo speakers. There’s more engaging attention hardware without doubt dropping on the 17th that’ll more desperately deserve our attention, sure, but as cheap sliders go, this could be a winner. See what we did there? It’s a gaming handset. You know, “winner.” Never mind.

The mythical G702 “BeiBei” is one of those phones that feels like it’s released, even though it’s not, clearly because it’s been scooped into oblivion on countless occasions at this point. Heck, it’s not even declare yet. But, you know, if there was anything else you still needed to know about this touchscreen UIQ-based candybar, look no further than YouTube, where a brief Sony Ericsson-produced promotional video for the G702 has surfaced. We see a few seconds of the stylus in action, and that’s about it; anyone left wanting more is probably plan to have to wait until June 17, when it appears the company will be throwing an contest in Amsterdam. It’s presumed that the G702 will be declare in this place, possibly alongside the Paris — though we’re well accustomed to disappointment, so we’re plan to try to keep our toyed-with emotions in check in this place until we see something official.
