Been cursing your
iPhone 3G’s disappointing battery life? Don’t have the heart to saddle the thing with that big ol’
Juice Pack? The Power Slider by Incase promises to double your phone’s power for up to 5 hours talk time on the 3G network (10 hours on 2G), increase your audio playback time to 26 hours, and increase your video playback time to 7 hours. If that wasn’t enough, the
iPhone can be left in the case while you sync it — saving wear and tear on the case and on your phone. While the Slider isn’t as svelte as your raw, naked iPhone, at the very least it manages to keep roughly the same shape (even if it does fatten it up Truly a bit). No pricing yet, should be available starting November 28.

While Americans have been enjoying the spoils of the RC29 and RC30 updates for a matter of hours at this time, folks in the UK have finally been treated to an update of their own. The RC8 update, which was recently delivered to Brits over the air, looks to be a single update that mashes together the fixes found in Bot. the RC29 and RC30 updates available in the US. Initial reports suggest that the phone at this time runs a touch cooler, though it’s being debated whether or not battery life has improved or worsened. Have any of you across the pond been able to test it out and see what’s new?

The HTC
Touch HD may be somewhat hard to come by ’round these parts, but it certainly hasn’t been making itself shy overseas, where it has been
unboxed,
examined, and given the
early review treatment. at this time that it’s
readily available in the UK, there’s even more reviews of the phone cropping up, which seem to mostly agree that while it’s not a phone for everyone, it definitely impresses. Among those completely blowing things out is Phone Arena, which, as you might expect, was especially impressed by the phone’s screen, and describe it as “the phone for document viewing.” Pocket at this time was equally impressed by that “HD” display, as well as its overall performance and battery life, which they were pleased to find was about on par with the HD-less Touch Pro. CNET was even more effusive in its praise, saying that, despite its drawbacks, it is “HTC’s
bes. Windows Mobile phone yet.” Windows Mobile, and HTC’s GUI, proved to be a point of contention for the folks at Slash Gear, however, who say the phone would be even better running a next-gen version of the OS, or possibly even Android (a sentiment also echoed by Phone Arena). Other drawbacks include the phone’s sheer size, some poor performance from TouchFLO 3D (despite an update) and, of course, it’s lack of US 3G bands, which presents a bit of a problem for folks considering importing one. Still undecided? Then dive into the links below and watch the time slip away.
