We didn’t see this one on our exhaustive leaked Nokia roadmap, but our homeboy Boy Genius has uncovered pics and specs of a new Nokia flip destined for AT&T. Codenamed “Wahoo,” the quad-band clamshell features an engaging attention half-QWERTY keypad, an internal 2.2-inch QVGA display and a 1.36-inch external unit, push-to-talk, microSD expansion, and A2DP support — which you’ll need because Nokia seems to think a 2.5mm headphone jack is still somehow acceptable. No word on a release date, but if you’re waiting on pins and needles for a phone with a display that small we really can’t help you anyway.

Nokia “Wahoo” 3G half-QWERTY flip swings into view originally appeared on Engadget Mobile on Wed, 12 Nov 2008 15:16:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

We’ve already seen Nokia’s new N96 up-close and unboxed, but if you’re looking for a bit more information before your potential purchase, you may want to head over to All About Symbian, which has a few first impressions of the phone. Among other things, its contributor found the screen to be “great,” even outdoors, and the overall build quality is described as “good,” if a bit “plasticky.” He also found the music quality to be especially good over Bluetooth/A2DP, and from the built-in speakers as well, which are apparently “very loud.” On the downside, the camera shutter key proved to be a bit stiff, and some of the third-party applications like ProfiMail were to be a bit buggy, as was Nokia’s Switch app when attempting to transfer Dat. from an E90 to the N96. Hit up the link below for a few more details, and some sample photos taken with the N96’s camera.

You don’t see terribly many low-cost horizontal slider dumbphones from Samsung, and that’s left the market wide open for LG with its Rumor and Scoop — until at this time, that is. Meet the Messager, a candybar whose sole reason for being is making your texting life a little easier thanks to a QWERTY keyboard that slides out to the side. The 1xRTT data (yipes!) and 1.3-megapixel sensor aren’t plan to bake any noodles, but at $199 with no contract whatsoever, there’s not a lot of room for bellyaching, especially when you throw in A2DP and a microSD slot. Just a hint, though, Samsung: any phone + pretty colors = $$$. Seriously.
