We’re coming right up on a year since we first heard of the 2605’s existence, and with a VGA camera just about the most engaging attention feature we can find on the spec sheet, we’re having a hard time saying with a straight face that it was worth the wait. Be that as it may, the unassuming flip is still on a very, very short list of CDMA Nokias sold in the US, which in itself makes it sorta engaging attention — and your hard-earned $49.99 on contract after $50 rebate is plan to nab you Bluetooth, a color external display, VZ Navigator support, and Xpress-on changeable covers (when’s the last time you owned an Xpress-on Nokia, eh?). It’ll be available for order from Verizon’s site, telesales, and stores starting Thursday, with all sales channels opening the floodgates come January 23 of next year.

Uh oh — closing holes is all well and good, but it seems like Apple may have closed one too many holes in the iPhone’s firmware this time around. In a possible attempt to discourage intrepid iPhone unlockers, it seems like the bigwigs in Cupertino accidentally relocked some legitimately unlocked units. Users in Apple’s support forums report have been having mixed results, with some users no worse for the wear and others only able to make emergency calls. So if you’ve got an unlocked iPhone (and would prefer not to have to ship it to Vietnam) maybe you should resist the urge to hit that update button until this situation gets sorted out. Either way, be sure to sound off in the comments if you’ve got an unlocked iPhone and have successfully (or unsuccessfully) upgraded.

Back in February, we saw NetBlender blend in Blu-ray support to its DoStudio authoring software. at this time, version 1.6 is packing even more BD-related goodness, and it’s BD Touch in particular that we’re intrigued by. The latest flavor of DoStudio includes expanded capabilities such as Slideshows, Dolby TrueHD support, and BD Touch integration, not to mention a number of workflow enhancements including copy / paste, enhanced asset validation, printable reports, etc. Concerning BD Touch, this software at this time gives production outfits (or just entrepreneurial individuals) the ability to bake in support for iPhone control when the disc is played back in a PlayStation 3. The application is available for a $395 monthly rental fee, $2,495 for a 1-year license or $6,995 for a permanent license.

[Thanks, Jason]
