Whoa, whoa! Calm down just a second there, buddy, we didn’t say they’re shipping — they’re not — but keep your chin up, because they’re getting close. To prove it, Nokia USA has started taking pre-orders for North American versions of its lovely N79 and N85 superphones. No estimated shipping Dat. is showing up just yet, but we’re assured that they “get it first, so you get it first” — bold words for a direct retailer that frequently gets beaten by third-party distributors with the hot new models. We’ll see.

Hey, hey, just as expected out pops Sony Ericsson’s latest Walkman from the rumor mill. The quad-band W705 (aka RIKA, the G705 clone) with UMTS/HSPA 900/2100 support shares the same Clear Bass / Clear Stereo audio quality found in the W980 Walkman while packing DLNA-certified WiFi, shake control and SensMe music manipulation, a “large” (uh, hardly by today’s standards) 2.4-inch display, 4GB of bundled memory card storage, an FM radio, 3.2 megapixel camera, Google Maps, and an accelerometer for what’s quickly becoming a ubiquitous auto-rotating display feature on cellphones. It also packs Bluetooth, allowing it to stream audio out to the newly declare MBS-900 Bluetooth speaker. You know, if you’re a fan of compressed audio and short battery life. Just sayin’s all. Bot. will be available in chosen markets as of Q1 of the new year.

The long-rumored Samsung T919 Behold has finally broken cover in an official capacity for T-Mobile, offering a full-featured touchscreen handset (that isn’t the G1) to take advantage of that cute little AWS 3G network they’ve been cooking up. Besides TouchWiz, features include a 5-megapixel cam with video capability, full HTML web browser (we should certainly hope so), and haptic feedback; look for it to launch on November 10 in your choice of two colors for $149.99 on contract, including the rather lovely “light rose.” Next up, we have the Samsung Gravity — T-Mobile’s answer to the endless barrage of low-cost QWERTY texters coming from every other network — featuring a candybar form that conceals a full keyboard on a side slide. It drops by a week later, November 17 for $49.99 on a two-year plan, in “lime” and “aqua.” We think we know which one we’d rather have.
