Man, Nokia sure is proud of its unlocked N96, huh? As with the HTC Touch Diamond in CompUSA and the BlackBerry Bold at bes. Buy Mobile, the flagship N-series device won’t run you cheap off-contract. The Boy Genius shows off a flyer advertising the 16GB, 5MP powerhouse for “just” $799.99 (as expected), but judging by the standard $899.99 price on the outfit’s website, we’re thinking the decrease sticker may be for a limited time only. The question isn’t how bad do you want it — it’s do you really want it more than 1.825 WiMAX-enabled N810s?

Just when we thought the Touch HD really packed the pixels in, Softbank and Sharp have declare the Aquos Fulltouch 931SH slider, which sports a wild 1024 x 480 3.8-inch touchscreen. That’s almost the same res as most netbooks, for comparison — we’re not sure what all that pixel density is good for at this size, but we know we want it. Apart from the screen it’s also a pretty solid Softbank 3G featurephone: browser, Bluetooth with A2DP, 5.2 megapixel camera with image stabilizer, accelerometer, 1seg TV tuner, and a media player with microSD expansion. Sure, sure — but look at that screen, people. That’s the stuff dreams are made of. Anyone up for a trip to Japan?

[Thanks, Paul]

As we’d previously heard, the Delve will be the first handset officially released in the US to feature Samsung’s widget-based TouchWiz technology, courtesy of Alltel — and while we sorta wish it was the Windows Mobile version, this is about as deluxe as a dumbphone UI gets. The glossy bar of pure, keyboardless touchscreen action will go for $199.99 on contract after a $100 rebate when it’s available on November 6 and features a 3.5mm headphone jack, support for Alltel Navigation, microSD expansion, and a 2-megapixel cam with video capture. It also bundles nuTsie at no charge, giving buyers access to their iTunes playlists — a direct shot at the iPhone from a handset clearly in the same vein. You might even say the Delve “delves” into iTunes. Sorry.
