at this time we’ve got a photo to go along with the announcement of Sony Ericsson’s GreenHeart concept phone — and if this is what saving the environment looks like, we approve. It looks sorta like a retooled W880, but you won’t find any brushed aluminum in this place; instead, the GreenHeart’s made with some crazy plastics that go easy on mother nature. It’s bundled with a new charger that shuts off when the phone doesn’t need any juice to save energy, but one think it’s not bundled with is a manual — the guide is entirely electronic to save paper. The granola candybar isn’t slated for production, but we’ll see a number of technologies developed for it come about in retail models over the next few years.

When the megapixel race unofficially started in the point-and-shoot world, it didn’t take long before every last camera manufacturer out there was cramming 14-megapixel sensors into any ole pocket cam. at this time, it seems the same race is headed to the mobile realm. Of late, we’ve seen a new batch of 8-megapixel handsets and a 9-megapixel sensor, and a recent interview with LG’s sales and marketing director John Barton points to even more of those in the near future. According to him, “the megapixel race that we saw amongst camera makers is at this time being battled out between mobile manufacturers,” hinting that 10+ megapixel phones (not to mention handsets with HD video capability) are closer than we may have imagined. Mmm, the possibilities.

We’re going down our “things that absolutely must change on the iPhone” list, and yeah, “redo the Safari toolbar” isn’t anywhere on there. Not even at the very bottom. Cupertino works in mysterious ways, though, and they’ve decided in firmware 2.2 that it’s time to muck with the positioning of the text boxes so that the address bar and search bar Bot. appear at all times without needing to first tap in the area. They’ve also moved the refresh button inside the address bar itself, which should truly revolutionize our browsing experience yet again. Apple, screw copy / paste — we’re officially stoked.
