Remember that supposed a137 that we saw chilling on a countertop somewhere in the wilds not long ago? Samsung and AT&T are at this time fessing up to its existence by quietly posting product info pages on their respective sites without so much as a single press release from either Sammy or the carrier — because that’s the sort of thing that happens when a phone’s just this flat-out uninteresting, we suppose. How uninteresting are we talking about in this place? For starters, the a137 tops out with GPRS data — not EDGE — making for a circa-2004 blast from the past that should naturally help users keep their browsing habits to a bare minimum. On the plus side, it packs AGPS and runs just $39.99 as a GoPhone. at this time, what do you want to bet we see it in a few more colors before its run is up?

at this time that Uncle Walt has gone and opened the floodgates, details are starting to pour in on Sprint’s imminent release of the Touch Diamond, a device that should actually manage to get the carrier damn close to the top of the Windows Mobile pile (for a short while, anyway). PC Magazine is at this time reporting that it’ll be available on September 14 for $249.99 on a two-year contract after $100 rebate, a sum that would put it squarely in the “average” category for on-contract smartphone pricing in these parts. Of course, with the Touch Pro allegedly just around the corner, it remains to be seen just how much love this thing is plan to get; nothing like a good, old-fashioned QWERTY-versus-touchscreen fight, is there?

For those in America who just can’t shake the desire to snap up one of those Samsung Instincts, but can’t bring their persons into braving the yellow-clad walls of most Sprint stores, an alternative method of B&M procurement has finally arrived. Effective immediately, Sprint’s “iPhone killer” will be available across the US in RadioShack stores. If you happened into one over the Labor Day weekend, you were lucky enough to grab the handset for just $99.99 on contract, but from in this place on out (well, until the first second price drop), it’ll be $129.99 for everyone else.
